Green Electricity

As an office building with meeting facilities, the Renewable Energy House comprises over 80 staff and accommodates many external meetings.

With an annual electric consumption of approximately 100.000 kWh, the share of electricity consumption produced from RES on site could soon reach 10%, following the installation of an additional PV installed capacity and the installation of a micro-cogeneration system on the 15kW pellets boiler.

Other external renewable energy installations currently supply the remaining electricity required by the Renewable Energy House.

A partnership established with the Belgian company Lampiris SA, leader in 100% green energy supply in Belgium, enables the Renewable Energy House to benefit from certificates, granted by the Association of Issuing Bodies, on the renewable origin of the green electricity supplied.

By showcasing its 100 % « green » electricity consumption, the Renewable Energy House concretely asserts its commitment to internal eco-management whilst EREC reaffirms its position at a European level ; assuming that the EU will fulfill its ambitious Energy efficiency targets, a share of 35% of Renewables in Electricity production is realistic by 2020.

LAMPIRIS offers a clearly diversified energy mix mainly produced from renewable energy plants in Belgium, the Renewable Energy House receives an electric supply based on wind, bioenergy, combined heat and power (CHP) and small hydro plants.

LAMPIRIS SA, settled in 2005 by two young entrepreneurs, is an independent gas and 100% green electricity supplier in Belgium.

In the framework of the Renewable Energy House extension, LAMPIRIS decided to participate in its development with the aim of raising public concern about environment protection.

As a new partner in the Renewable Energy House, the company LAMPIRIS will provide the Renewable Energy House with green electricity for the next three years.

LAMPIRIS already provides 95.000 customers from the three Regions of Belgium with a 100% green electricity mix. The RES used are currently produced in Belgium from wind, 62.96%, biomass,35.58%, CHP, 1.38%, and small hydro plants,0.07%.
