In Memoriam Hermann Scheer
In Memoriam Hermann Scheer It is with deepest regret that we learned about the sudden and unexpected passing away on 14th October 2010 at the age of only 66 of our friend, colleague and one of the most remarkable renewable energy advocates of our times, Dr. Hermann Scheer.
Hermann Scheer held many functions: President of EUROSOLAR, General Chairman of the World Council for Renewable Energy, Holder of the Alternative Nobel Prize and Member of the German Parliament, but Hermann was above all an exemplary man who dedicated all his live and energy to his passion and conviction: the promotion of a 100 % renewable energy society.
Hermann was an inspiring example that the conviction and belief of an individual is able to move mountains. Due to Hermann Scheer’s vision and endurance, renewable energy sources have made a bit step forward compared to where they stood a couple of decades ago. We will continue to carry Hermann’s legacy forward and unit forces for a rapid transition towards a world entirely based on renewable energy.
Using the words of Gabriel Garcia Marquez: “Don’t cry because it came to an end. Smile because it happened.” Thank you Hermann for everything, we will continue in your spirit.
